Elastic Education is here to help you re-define
teaching & learning
in your space at
your own pace.

WELCOME TO OUR CORNER OF THE INTERNET!

We are Naomi West & Shona McGregor,
creators of Elastic Education, and we love to help educators just like you rediscover the joy of teaching through the use of creative thinking and metacognition (that fancy term for thinking about your thinking).
WE'RE SO HAPPY YOU MADE IT
If these thoughts have ever occured to you and yes, they definitely have to us, we know that you and your students will benefit from teaching for creativity!
improve their problem solving & idea creation
find their voice and independence as learners
but wait...
hang on a sec!
Have you ever looked around your
learning space & wished...
your kids could get themselves into groups without a brawl or the need for a therapy session?
or
your students could just figure things out for themselves without asking obvious questions like ‘Should I underline the title?'
or even
you had the time to have a discussion with the class about something that was meaningful to them (aka space in the timetable)?
understand how they learn
collaborate effectively
improve your own experience of teaching
SO, IF YOU ARE READY TO HELP YOUR STUDENTS...
YOU HAVE COME
TO THE
RIGHT PLACE!
let's just clear something up...
?
We have to explain what we mean by
"teaching for creativity" allllll the time,
so let's make sure we're on the same page.
What
Creativity Isn't
Something you just have or definitely don't.
Something we only use when we are being arty.
and we're not talking about something extra you throw in on a Friday afternoon for a bit of fun or to fill in time.
What
Creativity Is
Everyone is born with it! We've just forgotten how to use it. Its a skill we can practice and get better at, at any age.
It's not just about the arts. You can think creatively in any subject; especially science, maths and literacy.
Creativity is often challenging and hard work but it's hard fun.
Let's get started with
a freebie!
Now we love to talk about creativity but what's our big goal?
To make it easy for you to incorporate it into your teaching so you don't feel overwhelmed and give up before you see results.
Here's something you can take straight to your students tomorrow and try it out.
Jumpstarters
We use quick & purposeful Jumpstarter
activities at the beginning of learning sessions to get those synapses firing and ready to learn.
We'll send a free pdf with clear examples straight to your inbox along with the ins and outs of why they work so well and how you can adapt them for your learners.
